Hasegawa, finished 04/2004. My first aircraft kit in 1/48 scale. I had decided that I'll build this for Model Expo 2004, so this turned out to be a bit stressful project as I had only two months to build and finish it. One big reason for this project was also that the finnish aviation museum had a Hurricane Mk.I on display for the first time since eighties. The plane on display is HC-452, but I wanted to build a different plane, so my choice was HU460 in its' original colour scheme. The Hasegawa kit was very good, only one seam needed quite a bit of putty and filing. The kit wasn't very suitable for building a finnish Hurricane, as it had wrong spinner, propellers, tires etc. Finnish planes had DeHavilland spinner and the kit had only a Rotol one, and the wheels had wrong number of spokes. I ended up buying Ultracast resin propeller, spinner and tires along with Eduard photoetched detail set. My original plan was to use etched flaps in lowered position, but the timetable didn't allow it. Airbrushed the kit with Humbrol enamels, then added a coat of Future for decals and then added inScale decals. The Future coat turned out to be too thin as some of the decals silvered. Tried to finish the kit with airbrushing Humbrol matt varnish which didn't work at all, the surface turned all white! Luckily gently rubbing and another layer of Revell matt varnish fixed the problem. This kit took part in Model Expo 2004 and IPMS Open 2004
